Flow

The Flow binding system is a hybrid of traditional strap-in bindings and step-in bindings. Flow bindings offer the ease of entry with the snug fit of a strap-in binding. To strap in:

  • Flip down the clip
  • Lower the high back
  • Slide in your boot
  • Lift the high back
  • Flip the clip back into place

The “sock” section of the binding which holds your foot in place is adjustable via four straps, meaning more adjustment options with less stress on each strap compared to traditional strap-ins. Flow bindings do have disadvantages as well. The high backs do not fold down unless you undo your four straps, meaning you will lose your settings. Without the high backs folded down, it is hard to get your board into some board bags and may cause problems with roof racks. Some riders also report that they do not find them as snug as they can get traditional strap-in bindings.

I have ridden strap-ins for the last three years and just switched to flow bindings this year. You do give up a little bit of snugness but I can also strap myself in while moving, which is pretty awesome in itself.
